My Journey
Highlight of my Journey as a Global Mission Fellow leaving my home country Sierra Leone and adapting in Southern Zambia, Choma.
A journey that can be smooth for others can be challenging for another person.I answered God's call in 2019 but it was full of challenges. In the early years of 2020 Covid-19 became a pandemic and a lot of restrictions was put on international travels. 2021,the call finally became a reality. Even with that, I faced another challenge at my country's airport for something not even necessary, but for the grace of God, a member of my church was traveling to Cameroon that faithful morning. After I was rejected with another fellow,he told the immigration officers that these boys are going on a mission work allow them to travel if anything comes out of it negative let me be held responsible. They took him to an office and he signed on our behalf. We then traveled together myself and the other fellow to Zambia with no issue absolutely.
In Zambia,I was warmly welcome by the administrative Assistant to the Bishop Mrs Zulu, and the Rev.Mrs Kaluba one the Pastor's in Pilgrim Wesleyan Church in Choma. When I arrived in my POA Choma, I received the same hospitality from my supervisor Rhodah Nanja. The staple food here was strange at my arrival, but in few days I realized it was just fine. However, I came to love Nshima just as the rice I was used to eating every other day in Sierra Leone. The people are friendly in my POA and I am enjoying my stay in Choma southern province, and the work i’m doing.
In my place of assignment, I’m assign to the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church were I serve as a Sunday School teacher. I also work with the World Hope International child sponsorship program. As the assistant to the Child Sponsorship Associate-Zambia. Hope for Children is there to reduce children's suffering by helping to provide for them in school. It also helps children to know about the love of God. Above all, it gives chance to children to achieve their ambitions, through the support these vunurable children are receiving. I have quite a number of responsibilities. Inclusive,
Processing financial reports that coordinators prepare following payment of funds from the Hope for Children office, for the preparation of the financial report to the international office.
Processing updates from the
Trusts.
Helping to plan and coordinate activities for children in the Trusts.
Help to distribute school supplies to the coordinators and Children.
Visiting Trusts for monitoring to ensure that the sponsored Children are learning and attending school regularly.
Help guide Children on how to write letters to their sponsors.
Among others, these are some of the activities I'm doing in my POA.

As one of the program organise for the children, the purpose of funday can be seen below:
A day for the children to realize that they are still “Children”and be young as they play games together. Games that helps them develop their leadership communication, sportsmanship, sociality and ownership..
A day for the children to have a break from their studies or things that keep them from being Children and have a time to be together just enjoying their time with one another.
Finally,to teach the children about the importance of studies, their future and their role in the community.
At this time, the children hear the word of God and at the end of the funday food is served and we dismiss the children.
Finally,in March this year the senior monitoring and evaluation specialist from the USA Tae,visited Zambia and together we went to visit the home of one of the sponsored Children and the family, below is the pictorial evidence.
